Free choice writing - The weird world


5000  years ago the world was weird, every bit of the world was weird.  Cars had no wheels, it was people in a box painted like a car.  People had one eye, five noses, six ears, two mouths, ten arms, eight legs. Their race was called Idiot. One day the Cedar race came and made the Idiot people become the Cedar races slaves, but one day the Idiot race chose to fight back for their world and so a big fight started. The fight took three days till the Cedar people retreated and the Idiot people got their world back. Finally after three days of war the people are happy that the war is over with a win and that they don’t have to slave the Cedar. Now every thing is back to normal and everyone is happy but not the Cedar people.

Why does food rot?


Why does your food rot,your food rots because of all the bacteria, fungi, and the enzymes. bacteria, fungi and enzymes need. Also how to stop your food from rotting.

Firstly the things that make your food rot. Bacteria, fungi and enzymes are everywhere. In the soil, air and water and are even carried by humans and other living animals.
Secondly, what enzymes, bacteria and fungi need are warmth, approximately 15 - 25 degrees, also sugar, starch, oxygen and moisture.  
Lastly to stop enzymes, fungi and bacteria keep it frozen and try not to let the oxygen and the heat get to your food.
In conclusion your food rots because of the fungi and bacteria.

4 hours later, I was on the bus and I got kicked off the bus. I was walking and saw a big forest, but before the bus stopped my best friend came out, she came with me. Free choice writing - Battle of World War III


So this is what it feels like going to war. We are on the plane we have our parachutes ready to jump, it’s war.
Now we are heading to England for my first war in my whole life. We are New Zealand v Brazil. I hope I am not the last person in the war.
So we keep fighting we are winning but it gets better we are in ships heading to Chile, but they follow us. So are the Tongas, we are so nervous which team are they going to go on.
Right they went to Chile but we keep trying to defeat them.

Maths Strategies


In Room 12 we have learnt the following strategies for solving multiplication problems.


Multiplication
  • Place Value Strategy
(Good for problems that have multiple digit numbers that end in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Eg. 6 x 15 = (6 x 10) + (6 x 5)
= 60 + 30
= 90
  • Rounding and Compensating Strategy
(Good for problems that have multiple digit numbers that end in 6, 7, 8, 9)
Eg. 7 x 19 = (7 x 20) - (7 x 1)
= 140 - 7
= 133
  • Doubling and Halving Strategy (Can also be applied as Tripling and Thirding)
E.g 5 x 46 = 10 x 23  (Double the ‘5’, and halve the ’46’)
= 230 
Or. 3 x 24 = 9 x 8     (Triple the ‘3’ and third the ’24’)
= 72
